Atheist Moms reached out to nearly a dozen atheist organizations throughout March 2022 and did not receive one response.
The organizations we contacted are American Atheists, Atheist Alliance International, Atheist Foundation of Australia, Atheist Ireland, Freedom From Religion Foundation, Military Association of Atheists and Freethinkers, Minnesota Atheists, Oklahoma Atheists, Secular Woman, Secular Student Alliance, Atheists for Liberty.
We even sent a follow up email just to check if they received the first email, and still received no reply.
We are disappointed that these organizations did not respond, especially when we represent a segment of atheists (mothers who identify as atheist) that are relatively unheard of yet are in immense need of community.
Ironically, American Atheists recently released a report in conjunction with Secular Woman that examines “the stigma and discrimination faced by nonreligious women in the United States, and highlighting the needs and priorities of women in the nonreligious community.”
We would think if American Atheists and Secular Woman truly cared about nonreligious women they would have responded to our emails.
At this point atheist organizations that have given spotlight to Atheist Moms are Atheists We Are, Christian Atheist Society and Republican Atheists. Granted, those organizations are managed by our founder, Lauren Ell. Of course she helped spread awareness of Atheist Moms through her other projects!
